A 'service strip' is legally part of the public highway and is normally either pavement or part of the grass verge. Service strips have often been treated as part of residents’ gardens and therefore can appear to be contiguous with your private space. However, legally they are part of the public highway. Under the 2003 Telecommunications Act, Connexin (or any other telecommunications or utility company) has the right to install equipment within the adopted highway.
